Swami Dayanand Saraswati Commentary : As someone told someone to bring water, he saw that there is no water there, but it should be brought from where there is water. On account of this ‘Absence’ i.e. the non-existence, knowledge takes place, that is called the evidence of ‘Absence’.

महर्षि दयानन्द व्याख्या : जैसे किसी ने किसी से कहा कि तू जल ले आ, उसने वहाँ देखा कि यहाँ जल नहीं है, परन्तु जहाँ जल है वहाँ से ले आना चाहिये। इस अभाव निमित्त से ज्ञान होता है, उसको 'अभाव' प्रमाण कहते हैं ।
