Swami Dayanand Saraswati Commentary : One who is conscious, has finite knowledge, and qualities of desire, aversion, effort, happiness, sorrow, and knowledge, and is eternal, is called the ‘Soul’.
In Hindi:
महर्षि दयानन्द व्याख्या : जो चेतन, अल्पज्ञ, इच्छा, द्वेष, प्रयत्न, सुख, दुःख और ज्ञान गुण वाला तथा नित्य है, वह 'जीव' कहलाता है।
