In English:
Component Word : tadaa vivekanimnam kaivalyapraagbhaaram chittam.
Sutra in English : tadaa vivekanimna.m kaivalyapraagbhaara.m chittam.26.
Meaning in English : (tadaa) Then (on account of distinctive knowledge) (chittam) the mind of a yogi (viveka-nimnam) inclines towards discrimination and (kaivalya-praagbhaaram) gravitates towards = moves on the path of absolute independence.
Swami Dayanand Saraswati Commentary : When by removing all defects, the Soul tends towards true knowledge, then the mind becomes filled with the residual potencies of properties of salvation and the Soul is able to achieve complete independence. Since until time, the Soul remains involved in the acts of bondage, till then salvation cannot be achieved.
(Rigvedaadibhashyabhuumika - on Emancipation)
Ancient Seer Commentary in English : tadaanii.m yadasya chitta.m viShayapraagbhaaramaj~naananimnam-aasiittadasyaanyathaa bhavati kaivalyapraagbhaara.m vivekaja- j~naananimnamiti.
Ancient seer Meaning in English : (tadaaniim) Then = on obtaining the distinctive knowledge, (chittam) the mind (asya) of this yogi (yat) which (aasiit) was (viShaya-praagbhaaram) flowing towards sensuous enjoyments and (aj~naana-nimnam) moving on the path of ignorance and nescience, (tat) that mind (asya) of this yogi now (bhavati) takes (anyathaa) the reverse course i.e., it (kaivalya-praagbhaaram) flows towards salvation and (vivekaja-j~naana-nimnam iti) moves on the path of discriminative knowledge.
Vedic Commentary in English : In the commentary to aphorism 1.12 Seer Vyaasa said that the stream of mind flows in two ways. The flow toward salvation on the plane of discriminative knowledge is the path of welfare; and the flow on the plane of non-discriminative ignorance towards material enjoyment is the path of sin. The stream of mind of the common person flows on the second path = on the path of ignorance only. In that aphorism, the mean for opening the flow towards the path of welfare is said as - "its flow towards discrimination is opened by habituating the mind to the experience of true knowledge of Mind and Soul."
Now yogi by having cognition of distinctive knowledge of Mind and Soul, in the state of Egoism Cognitive Trance, satisfies his curiosity about the nature and knowledge of the Soul. Now in this state, he has a clear vision about his future course of acts and clearly knows his primary objective of salvation. The mind of the devotee which was moving on the path of ignorance to achieve material enjoyment till now, that mind now moves towards salvation on the plane of discrimination, on the basis and strength of discriminative knowledge.
It has to be understood here that before the state of Egoism Cognitive Trance, the stream of mind of yogi remains on the path of the material world only. Though the yogi had verbal knowledge of the superiority of the Soul as against the Matter, in the absence of discriminative knowledge, the stream of mind on the path of welfare cannot get opened. However, motivation to flow on the path of welfare, by the verbal knowledge of salvation, becomes the base to bring the yogi into this state. In this way by having the knowledge of the conscious Soul, who is pure in his form, and is totally different from the mind, the mind of yogi moves on the plane of discrimination which is known as the path of welfare; i.e., the modification of mind of yogi are inclined towards salvation, on the strength of discriminative knowledge. This state of mind is known as gravitation on the path of salvation = absolute independence.
